I have a lantern with the same design as this one except it is only a hand crank lantern. I have had it since around 2006. It has lasted all these years and still works fine. It is the lantern I always go to when the power goes out, because my battery flashlights never work when I need them, and I can never find fresh batteries in my battery supply that work. It is a necessity to have a hand crank light source that doesn't need batteries, because you will always be able to have light. I also use it when I blow a fuse and the lights go out in the house. I bring it with me down the basement to check my fuses in the dark. This light is definitely a lifesaver. When I update my light sources, I would definitely buy this newer 5 mode version of my lamp.
