*A Man/Woman Of Steel*- Cookware: Steel vs Cast Iron vs Aluminum

Texsport Family Stainless Steel Cook Set

Cast iron is toxic. Adult men and post menopausal women can get iron poisoning from eating food cooked in cast iron pans. The iron level in their bodies can rise to a high level causing iron toxicity.

Iron cannot be eliminated from the body except through blood loss. Too much iron may cause cancer, and its toxic high levels can severely damage the heart, arteries and organs.

Aluminum is also toxic and can damage the nervous system, immune system, and genetic system. It might leach into the food when you cook with aluminum pans. Aluminum crosses the blood/brain barrier and has been found in Alzheimer patients.

Obviously, everyone should know by now, that Teflon coated cookware is toxic and considered a human and animal carcinogen and so much so, that if you have a pet bird in the house, near where you are cooking, the toxic fumes from the Teflon, when you are cooking something in the pan, can kill the bird.

Safer alternatives to cast iron and aluminum pans are stainless steel pots and pans. Camping stainless steel pots and pans are sold that are lighter weight than the ones you use in your home. Some of the camping cookware even has copper clad bottoms. Stainless steel camping cookware would be a good choice for your bug out bag and/or bug out vehicle.

The above picture is the Texsport Family Stainless Steel Cook Set. We have this one. It has copper bottoms. It is lightweight and stacks all together compactly. The handle on the frying pan detaches and the frying pan can become a cover for the large pot or a dinner plate. For more information about the Texsport Cook Set press HERE.
