Surviving the Elements
The best jackets we have ever owned are the Men's Carhartt Jackets. These jackets will keep you warm. We have had so many jackets and coats in our lifetime, but these jackets beat them for warmth.
When choosing this jacket for a long duration outdoors, both MEN, as well as WOMEN, should buy the Men's Jacket. Try to get one with a hood attached, and if you don't like the hood attached, Carhartt sells the hood separately. It may be a good idea to buy the jacket in a larger size than you normally wear, so that you can wear more than one sweater under it. For extreme cold, we wear a T-shirt with two sweaters over it, and then the jacket, and then wrap a long scarf around our necks and a ski cap on our heads and put the hood over that.
We have a few Men's Carhartt jackets made with Duck fabric. They sell many styles, including waterproof. The jackets also come in more than one color. We would suggest black or a dark color for long term use in the outdoor elements, and also for stealth purposes.
