PVC Raincoats: Waterproof & Windproof

If you want a waterproof and windproof coat, a PVC raincoat is the way to go. PVC is an abbreviation for polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

PVC raincoats are nonporous, keeping the rain out, and the body heat and moisture in. This creates a steamy environment inside the coat. To prevent this steamy sweaty interior, many of these PVC raincoats are lined with cotton or flannel, and have hidden vents. The vents allow air to circulate without allowing water in.

The PVC raincoat is lightweight. If you need it for a bug out situation, it is suggested to buy a size much larger than you normally wear, so that you can fit the PVC raincoat over your winter coat that you are wearing, when the weather is cold. This way, you can stay both dry and warm in the outdoors.

It is also suggested, that in a bug out situation, you want to remain stealth, so a dark colored PVC raincoat is suggested, instead of the more common yellow or orange color, that they usually come in. However, in regular daily life, it is suggested to get a coat that has a color that can stand out, that is very noticeable, so that when crossing a street or in an emergency when you need to be out at night, you are noticed and won't get hit by a vehicle, and if you fall you are more likely to be assisted and found when wearing a light colored or brightly colored coat.
