WHAT YOU NEED:
OOOO Super Fine Grade Steel Wool
Any brand 9 Volt Battery
Fine Dry Tinder Wood
WHAT TO DO:
Pull the steel wool into thin lengths about 6 inches long and 1/2 inch wide.
Touch the steel wool to both contacts of the battery and the steel wool will begin to glow and burn.
It's has a short burning time, so be sure to have your tinder ready and get it into your tinder quickly.
You will have really good results starting a fire, if you pull the steel will fibers apart and fluff them up and tuck them into your tinder bundle. Then touch all the pieces of the steel wool with the 2 contacts of the 9 volt battery. As the steel wool ignites, blow on it until the tinder bundle bursts into flames, and within seconds you have a fire going. Then just keep feeding the fire with wood until it is big enough for your needs.
USEFUL INFORMATION:
Steel wool can be ignited under any type of weather condition. So if your box of matches gets wet in the rain and you are unable to strike the matches, you can light a fire with the steel wool instead.
You can also use the steel wool for other things, such as scrubbing your camping pots.
It is best not to breath the smoke from the steel wool as it burns.
