Three Dog Night: Survival

Having a dog can help you survive.

What can a dog do for you? Here is a list:

-A dog can warn you, if there is someone trying to break into your home. They usually do this by barking, unless they were trained to warn you in some other way.

-Many dogs can sense earthquakes, flash floods, and hurricanes. Some of their reactions to these disaster situations are climbing the highest surfaces around; and/or continuously barking; getting hyper by running around the house; opening their eyes as wide as they can, like a person who is in a state of fear; and they may “communicate” with other dogs in the neighborhood, by hearing dogs in the distance barking and barking in response to them.

-If trained or if you are lucky to have such a dog, they can run for help, if you are in danger.

-They can protect you and defend you if you are being attacked by a person or animal.

-If you can train a dog to hunt with you, they can get you food.

-They can give you a feeling of security and safety, so you can have a good night's sleep, knowing that you will be protected and warned, if you have a possible intruder while you are sleeping.

-They can carry things for you. There are dog backpacks, which I have advertised on this site: click here to view.

And, they can also pull heavy things for you with a rope, or pull you on a sled.

There are many other things they can do. These listed are just a few.

-Finally, have you ever hear of "Three Dog Night"? No, not the singing group. The real meaning of "Three Dog Night" originated with hunters. When hunters were cold at night in their unheated cabins, they would have 3 dogs lie on their beds with them. The dogs would keep them warm.

So when someone says, "It was a 'three dog night'," they mean that it was a very cold night. I have also heard of numerous times, when a person got lost in the woods with their dog, the dog layed on them to keep them warm so that they could survive the night cold.
